Cobblestones ♥

For this weeks ‘Food Talk with Mackenzie’ (F.T.W.M) I am going to talk about a place I seem to be spending a lot of time at at the minute, Cobblestones Bar and Grill.

Cobblestones is a converted mill situated alongside the canal in Sowerby Bridge, and has a modern mediterranean inspired menu. They aim to bring the city vibe through their stone brick walls, wooden tables and fairy lights. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere with outdoor seating, perfect for those summer days. The staff are super friendly and attentive and serve generous portions which are beautifully served and garnished. Some of the many reasons its my favourite place to go at the moment.

On my many visits to Cobblestones in the past few months I have be drawn to their sharing boards, they are AMAZING! I either get one for myself or me and my friends share a couple. My favourite has to be their Vegetarian Board. It consists of warm camembert, garlic mushrooms, carrot falafel, olives, hummus, warm breads and oils & dips. This is a perfect winter board and even better washed down with a glass of wine. I have also had the Cheese and Pate board and the House Antipasto. The cheese board is cheeses, chicken liver paté, toast, celery, apple, grapes, chutney & crackers and the Antipasto has pesto bruschetta, chicken liver pate, toasted ciabatta, olives, cured meats, cheese and a rocket, parmesan and balsamic salad. The antipasto board is a great one to have for your lunch with a side of fries, or to share on a summers day with a Pimms.

They have many more, such as their fish board, signature board and ploughman’s lunch, all which I need to try!

On one of my visits I took my mum and sister, this is when I decided to have the Antipasto Board for myself, whereas my mum went for their ‘MOBY DICK & CHIPS,’ a giant beer battered haddock, hand cut chunky chips, garden peas & lemon tartare sauce. They aren’t joking when they say ‘giant,’ it was huge! My sister went for the full BBQ rack of ribs served with onion rings and a choice of side. These were super tasty, but as messy as you can imagine. The meat just fell of the bone, the way it should be.

Cobblestones is a great place to go with family and friends and I would recommend making a trip on Wednesdays. The majority of my trips there have been Wednesdays as following our meals we stay for the pub quiz. It is only £2 and even includes supper! To be honest you can just go for the pub quiz as the suppers are huge, from pie and chips, to chicken strips and halloumi bites, and they even do a veggie option. You cant go wrong with it only being £2! The quiz is great, not the easiest, but super fun and there is even a round of higher or lower to finish!

They don’t stop there, they even do themed quizzes. We attended their Harry Potter Halloween quiz. Where we got sweets, popcorn, themed cocktails and even mocktails for all you drivers. Supper was chilli with chips and rice, which was spicy but super tasty! The only down side to these quiz nights is that we NEVER win. Their quiz nights are super fun and you should deffo check out their Christmas quiz, where they are raising money for the Forget Me Not charity!! If you are going to go on a Wednesday for the quiz I recommend ringing and reserving a table as it can get full very quickly.

However, if you aren’t keen on pub quizzes they have the following deals on during the week. There is something for everyone, you really can’t miss out on these!

  • TUESDAY TRADITIONS – one of their tradional dishes and a drink for only £10
  • BEER AND BURGER WEDNESDAY – Grab a burger and a beer for £10
  • PASTA AND WINE THURSDAYS – sample a classic past and a glass of wine for only £10
